@nycmayor @zohrankmamdani 100 day address.
What stood out to me more than anything was seeing such a diverse group of people unite with one voice and one love. I’ll never forget this memory.
@mayormamdani @nycmayor delivered a phenomenal speech highlighting the impact of his first 100 days in office. He has not disappointed.
I traveled from Florida as an ex MAGA Christian nationalist. I wanted to see the hype. Mayor Mamdani, thus far, has proven to be as real as they come.
Leaving MAGA was inevitable. It had to be done. I deconstructed and no longer aligned with the ideology of the right. But more importantly I’ve began to see how unfettered capitalism is destroying our country.
But have the Dems been better?
One of the main reasons I supported Trump is because he positioned himself as antiestablishment. He was going to drain the swamp and change politics as usual. I, like many Americans, were tired of the status quo. We were tired of corporate America and systems that only served the interests of the elite. But Trump is the swamp, as my dad says. The truth is the Dem Party wasn’t doing much better. They, too, were the establishment. They forgot about the working class. They were married to the old way of doing things and unwilling to try something new.
Then I heard the ideas of people like Bernie Sanders and Zohran Mamdani. They understood that we need a government that is efficient and not mired by corruption. We needed a government that returned to the people. We needed big money out of politics.
Mayor Mamdani did what the wealthy hate to see. He organized and he mobilized. Any time the powers at be see ordinary folks doing the extraordinary work of bringing community together, they become fearful. They will do whatever it takes to prevent unity of the working class. This is why the elite want the division by race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual identity. They fear what happens when people come together.
New York City was electric. I’ve never seen that many different demographics of people come together in one place as one voice. It was honestly one of the most beautiful moments in my life. There was so much love and compassion for each other and humanity. It was genuine. It was authentic. It was palpable. But for me I know it was fleeting.
I hear, “now boarding flight #2965 to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.”
Until next time NYC…
@mayormamdani @nycmayor Zohran and @sensanders Bernie are the real MVPs.
Democratic Socialism is in the building.
New York was electric.
The 100 day address was a whole vibe.
5 years ago I was in a prison cell.
Today I’m making infographics for my American Court System class.
Mass incarceration in the United States of America is a problem. The system is doing exactly what it was designed to do.
Black Americans comprise 37% of our incarcerated population while only making up 13% of the overall population.
In American we treat crime but we don’t treat people.
This is the US compared to Finland.
If our incarcerated were combined to make a state it would be the 36th most populated state in our country.
We are 5% of the global population yet we are 20% of its incarcerated population.
Be the change…
